Since the launch of Carousell in August 2012, Marcus has been deeply involved in product design, brand, and community, and built the app’s first interface as a self-taught designer. His role has since expanded to encompass many operational aspects of the organisation. Today, Marcus focuses on developing  Marketplace Ops, Carousell’s Culture and People, helping to direct the growth and development of employees, and the company culture.

We launched Carousell in Aug 2012 with a mission is to inspire every person in the world to start selling and buying to make more possible for one another. It all started with a few transactions; the buying and selling of things. But quickly, it became much deeper. That’s the power that people bring. Our vision is commerce will be redefined where second-hand is the first choice.

Today, Carousell has grown to more than 400 teammates and is available in more than 7 countries and major presence in 19 cities. We are serving millions of users globally. We help numerous communities that include stay-at-home mums, toy collectors, and fashion and beauty products lovers and many more. However, we believe that we are less than 1% done. We are humbled nonetheless that Carousell is ranked the top Shopping and Lifestyle application in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Australia, and backed by Sequoia Capital, Rakuten Ventures, 500 Startups, Golden Gate Ventures, Quest Ventures, Naspers and angels.
